Craig Reed, African Parks, Malawi

Posted on November 15, 2017 by MichaelaSGuzy

OTPYM founder, Michaela Guzy interviews Craig Reed, the Park Manager for African Parks who has the awesome responsibility for returning Liwonde National Park in Malawi back to its former wildlife infested glory. WATCH the interview.

Liwonde sadly was massively poached out and while there had been some success with rhino relocation, in the past few years 10 of the 18 had been killed. What’s also little discussed is the poaching of all the elephants. African Parks took over in 2015 and has already successfully reintroduced several species, including the cheetah! By early next year, 2 more of the big 5 will return– leopards and lions. By the end of 2018, African Parks project the park will be returned to its natural state. Tune in to learn about how you relocate an animal like an elephant safely and how you can help.
