Hi, I’m Michaela Guzy, founder of the content house, OhThePeopleYouMeet focusing on PEOPLE, PLACES + PURPOSES. We create + produce this exclusive series, “OhThePeopleYouMeet with Michaela Guzy”, which shifts the traditional show model from host to curator, in order to empower our local hosts to share their own stories + promote inclusivity.

I curate REAL PEOPLE who you can actually meet when traversing the globe — including local chefs + winemakers to artists, djs, changemakers and even the legendary Dr. Jane Goodall. My focus is how to go sustainably + who to know when you are there.

Each episode I will take digital nomads and armchair travelers alike on a journey of a lifetime to immerse themselves in the characters, culture + cuisine that will forever transform your perspective and give a true sense of place.

EPISODE SYNOPSIS:
In this episode, we visit Istanbul, the most populous city in Türkiye and the country’s economic, cultural and historic center. The city straddles the Bosporus strait (separating Europe and Asia) and is reported to have an “official” population of 15 million residents – making it the fifth-largest most populous city in the world and the largest city in Europe.

Our colorful local hosts take us to see some of Istanbul’s most iconic spots, sail into sunset on the Bosphorus Strait, visit Turkish Baths dating back to the Romans and get the inside scoop on carpets. We explore off the grid adventures in neighborhoods not listed in guide books and experience modern applications of traditional Ottoman influences on art, architecture and design.

The bustling streets of Istanbul will leave you exhausted but utterly inspired by the warm welcoming Turkish people you meet! Afterall, what’s old, is new again.
