What's Hot in Hotels: Sri Panwa Resort, Thailand
We would say it’s perfection, but there is one problem. Your forearm may be bruised by the time you leave after the number of times you pinched yourself and asked, “Is this reality?”
That’s the Sri Panwa resort in Phuket, Thailand for you. A haven for beach bums, food and wine connoisseurs, as well as though who simply want to “see and be seen,” this 5-star resort encompasses it all. Perched on a picturesque cut-de-sac about a 45-minute drive from the airport on the southeastern part of the island, the resort has a rare secluded-in-the-midst-of-a-bustling-city feel.
Once passing through the dually welcoming yet exclusive front gates, you are transported. Cars are replaced by traditional Thai tuktuks driven by cheerful staff, waiting to whisk you around the resort. The nightly routine of shower and t-shirt pajamas is replaced by an indulgent bubble bath in your private villa, with a silk robe to change into immediately afterwards.
Sri Panwa offers a plethora of choices in accommodations, from one to five bedroom villas. The commonality? The resort was designed in such way that all villas have an ocean view, and some even have a 360 degree panoramic view of the clear, turquoise waters. Each chic room is equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and iPod docks.
My personal favorite? The one bedroom luxury pool villa. Not only do guests enjoy a large master bedroom, an outdoor sundeck, a living room with its own pantry and bathroom and an outdoor bathing area with a separate rain shower–they are also treated to a personal infinity pool with a jet stream Jacuzzi system. You can legitimately jump from your bed into the refreshing water, overlooking the white sand beach beneath.
A swimsuit diet may be put to the test with the array of food choices offered at the resort–for a more casual snack, munch on fries and a Thai bubble tea at The Baba Pool Club. Or put the world-famous chefs at Baba IKI to the test with a decedent sushi menu. Lounge and sip artfully crafted cocktails at Baba Nest, the exclusive rooftop bar, with a 360 degree view of surrounding islands. We promise you’ll never want to view a sunset from anywhere else again.
After feasting like royalty, burn some calories on the resort’s tennis courts, in the fully equipped gym, or in a Thai boxing class. A well-deserved nap on Sri Panwa’s private beach or an hour long Thai massage treatment will be waiting afterwards.
You’ll quickly discover why Sri Panwa was awarded “Best Hotel in Thailand” in 2014 by Lonely Planet and is on the 2016 Gold List for Conde Nast China. It is the crossroads between luxury and tranquillity. Trust me, your bruised arm will be worth it.
