About OTPYM's Founder, Michaela Guzy
Michaela Guzy is the Founder & Chief Content Creator of OhThePeopleYouMeet.com & Michaela’s Map. In 2012, Michaela departed corporate America where she served as the VP/Global Travel and Strategic Development at American Express Publishing and blazed the female entrepreneurial trail in order to create content that spoke to why she liked to travel, to meet people that brought the destination to life, to have deeper connection and to give back to the communities to which she was visiting.
She started OhThePeopleYouMeet, an editorial content site for travelers, foodies and philanthropists seeking authentic local connection when they travel and headed to Africa as a female solo traveler to document travel companies that were working to support their local communities, the environment and wildlife.
Today, just four years later, OhThePeopleYouMeet, with Michaela at the helm, is a collective of over 60 contributors across the globe and powers the content for SustainableTravel.About.com. OTPYM has created two original web video series, Michaela’s Map and an extended interview series, OhThePeopleYouMeet which have been distributed on OTPYM, The Daily Meal, Everett Potter and Yahoo Travel. OTPYM is active on all social channels promoting the content we create and the partners we believe in. OTPYM offerS full video production, social, content creation/strategy, research, public speaking and event development/management services. In addition, Michaela is consulted to appear as an industry expert ranging from shows on Travel Savvy TV to BRAVO, to curating and moderating panels and conversations for International Luxury Travel Market, WeWork and soon Soho House’s Impact series.
Michaela has traveled to over 90 countries and won’t stop until she obtains a stamp from every one. Watch her real life encounters as she explores the world and its people from Australia and Namibia to Bhutan and on…her interactions range from conservationists fighting poaching in Africa to celebrity chefs teaching her about lamb’s brains.
While this global citizen hearts 5-star hotels, she will also camp in pop tents at AfrikaBurn. She might take a helicopter from a small batch vineyard to the rugged coast in Australia and then choose to hike the red sand dunes of Namibia. Michelin star chefs are fab, but so is catching your own fish and grilling it up yourself. It’s really more about the transformation that happens during your experience brought to you courtesy of your local guide. Sometimes they speak English, sometimes they don’t, but she always has fun figuring it out. C’mon, grab your passport and join Michaela on our global expedition.
Journey on,
Michaela Guzy at OhThePeopleYouMeet.com
